Current Photograpy Gear - 2008
The following gear makes up my current photographic toolkit. I used to own a more professional set of gear (see my old gear page, but I have sold all of that gear and replaced it with a much more simple, portable, and inexpensive toolkit. There are images in my gallery that were shot on my new Nikon D60 or an Canon EOS D60, and even a handful that were shot on a Minolta Maxxum 9 with Fujichrome Velvia ISO 50 film, but the vast majority were shot with my old Canon EOS 1Ds and EOS 10D.

Nikon D60 Digital SLR Body - This body is less sophisticated than my old Canon 1Ds, but I should be able to capture images of similar quality for the most part. The sensor is not full-frame like the 1Ds sensor, but the D60 does have a 10.2 megapixel sensor, which is not far off from the 1Ds. The D60 claims to automatically clear the low-pass sensor filter, so this might reduce my need to manually clean the sensor and the constant need to clone stamp out sensor dust on all of my images. I think this camera body is going to work out just great for me.
Tamron 18-250mm f/3.5-f/6.3 XR DI-II Zoom Lens - This is my main lens. With the D60 1.5x sensor/focal-length conversion, this lens has an effective focal length range of 27-375mm. There is some quality loss in exchange for the flexibility and focal length range, but to me this is completely acceptable when travel situations dictate the use of small lens.
Slik U6600 Photo Tripod with 3-Way Pan Head - This tripod is small and cheap, and I will probably replace it with something a little stronger down the road, but for now, it's good enough and it's nice and compact and light for backpacking.
Epson 2200 Photo Inkjet Printer - This is the printer that I use to produce all of my color prints. It uses 7 different inks: Photo Black, Light Black, Cyan, Light Cyan, Magenta, Light Magenta, and Yellow. It's an excellent printer that produces high-quality prints up to 13"x19" (A3) in size. I typically use Epson's Premium Luster or Premium Semigloss paper, but I also use Lyson's Photo Velvet Plus fine art paper.
